IMST GmbH is an SME (“Small and Medium Enterprise”) founded in autumn 1992 with financial support of the State Government of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. About 130 scientists and engineers concentrate their research on mobile and satellite communication systems. IMST has about 4.500 m2 of laboratories and offices and covers all technical disciplines from fundamental research to product implementations strongly driven by industrial needs with strong focus on hardware and software development. The five departments complement each other in the disciplines system techniques and wave propagation, digital signal processing, digital circuit design, design of RF components, integrated circuits and systems, and antenna theory and implementation, which are all of relevance to UWB research and development.
IMST GmbH provides system engineering, test, and development resources for the wireless, telecommunications, and information technology industries. Customers include the major European wireless and telecommunication companies as well as companies throughout the Far East and Pacific, as well as Israel. The wide ranging technical programs include component and systems engineering design, theoretical and experimental analysis, and unique test and measurement service capabilities.
IMST´s economic niche is the gap between relevant cutting-edge research and industrial product development. IMST helps companies to bridge this gap by partnering with industry and performing the generic research and engineering development work necessary to accelerate product development. This effort in turn reduces the risk to industry in new commercialisation ventures.
